COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka reached another grim milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic with the death toll exceeding 300 after the Director-General of Health Services confirmed that eight COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Friday (Jan. 29). As of Saturday (Jan. 30), Sri Lanka's COVID-19 death toll stands at 305. The details of the deceased as released by the Department of Government Information are as follows: 01. A 65-year-old male from Kollonnawa. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID and transferred from Colombo General Hospital to Iranawila Treatment Centre, where he passed away on 27th January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned Covid pneumonia. 02. A 67-year-old female from Panadura. She passed away while undergoing treatment at the Panadura Base Hospital on 27th January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned Covid pneumonia. 03. A 58-year-old male from Galle. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID, while receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and then transferred to Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, where he passed away on 28th January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and heart failure. 04. A 90-year-old female from Kalutara. She passed away while undergoing treatment at the Kalutara General Hospital on 24th January 2021. 05. An 80-year-old male from Moratuwa. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID at a private hospital in Colombo and transferred to the Pimbura Base Hospital where he passed away on 28th January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as heart failure due to Covid infection, acute diabetes and high blood pressure. 06. A 43-year-old female from Piliyandala. She died on 29th January 2021 while receiving treatment at the Kotalawala Defence University Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia and blood poisoning. 07. A 63-year-old male from Sainthamaruthu. He was diagnosed as infected with COVID while receiving treatment at the Samanthurai Base Hospital and then transferred to IDH where he passed away on 29th January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, shock from blood poisoning and a hearth condition. 08. A 66-year-old female from Ratnapura. She was diagnosed as infected with COVID, while receiving treatment at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital and then transferred to IDH where she passed away on 28th January 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, shock from blood poisoning and a hearth condition.
