BIA & MRIA OPENED FOR TOURIST ARRIVALS

Colombo (News 1st);  The Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake (BIA), and the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) were reopened on Thursday (21) after nine months.

Rajiv Sooriyaarachchi, Vice Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited speaking to News 1st there is a scheduled arrival of 14 aircraft from several destinations in Asian and Gulf Nations. All staff at the Katunayake Airport are prepped for the arrival of tourists to the country and tourists can arrive in Sri Lanka in three separate categories, he said. Visitors can arrive in Sri Lanka using Tourist Visa, Resident Visa, and Investors as well as Dual Citizens. Visa will only be issued online by the Department of Immigration and Emigration, he said. All tourists arriving in the country must have negative PCR test reports and COVID-19 insurance to the value of US$ 50,000. They should also be available for further PCR tests during their stay, depending on the duration. All tours will be conducted in accordance with strict health guidelines and they can only stay in Safe and Secure certified hotels.
