Colombo (News 1st); A Police Inspector attached to the Divisional Crimes Detective Bureau of Anuradhapura was arrested on Monday (18) by the Anuradhapura Headquarters Inspector for aiding and abetting drug trafficking.
Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said five mobile phones and SIM cards were recovered from the possession of the Police Inspector.
Further, the Anuradhapura Headquarters Inspector had analyzed the telephone details of the Police Inspector and it was revealed the latter maintained contact with drug traffickers.
The 43-year-old Police Inspector will be produced to the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court on Monday (18) to obtain a detention order for seven days in order to conduct further investigations.
