Colombo (News 1st); 05 police teams were deployed to investigate a cash and jewellery heist of over Rs. 40 Mn from a private financial firm in Miriswatte, Gampaha on Friday (15) afternoon.
Police spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said two armed men had visited the private financial firm wearing full face helmets, threatened the employees and committed the robbery.
Evidence will be ascertained to determine the identities of the suspect, he added and investigations are underway to locate and arrest them.
Sri Lanka Police urged the owners and employees of financial firms to pay close attention to their security as there is a rise in such crimes across the country.
The Police Spokesperson said at times the criminals may pose themselves as customers and visitors, and urged the employees and owners of financial firms to pay close attention to people with suspicious behavior.
