COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that one COVID-19 related death was reported in Sri Lanka on Thursday (Dec. 24), raising the COVID-19 death toll to 185, the Department of Government Information said.
The deceased is a 60-year-old male from Agalawatta, who died on admission to Pimbura Base Hospital on 20th December. The cause of death was ruled as blood poisoning with COVID-19 virus infection, a statement from the Department of Government Information read.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka has risen to 39,231; after 588 new cases were detected on Thursday (Dec. 24).
Of the 588 cases, 570 are associates of the Peliyagoda cluster and the remaining 18 are from prisons.
The total number of recoveries in the country stands at 30,568.
Another 8478 active COVID-19 patients continue to receive treatment.
