Colombo (News 1st); The Supreme Court on Wednesday(23) dismissed 40 petitions filed seeking an interim injunction order preventing the enrollment of students for the faculties of Engineering and Physical Sciences, based on the university cut-off mark of the Z-Score.
40 students who sat for the G. C. E. Advanced Level Examination in 2019 via the new syllabus and passed, thus filed the petitions.
The petitions were called up in the presence of the Supreme Court bench comprising of Justices Buwaneka Aluwihare, S. Thurairaja and Yasantha Kodagoda.
The Education Minister, Education Secretary, Commissioner General of Examinations, the University Grants Commission and its Chair along with the Attorney General were named as respondents in the petitions.
