COLOMBO (News1st): The second phase of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation's "Viru Abhiman" insurance scheme for state sector employees involved in combatting COVID-19 was launched on Tuesday.
The scheme aims at providing financial cover for health care employees, health ministry officials, tri-forces, police and other state officials.
Under the insurance scheme, Rs 100,000 would be paid as compensation for the loss of life due to COVID-19, and Rs 1000 in the case of hospitalization.
An allowance of Rs 2000 will also be paid for intensive care treatment running across a maximum of 90 days.
An insurance certificate was handed over to the President by the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Chairman Jagath Wellawatta to mark the second phase of the programme.
