COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Public Security Retired Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara said that the Indo-Lanka accord is not valid anymore.
The minister made these remarks when he met with District Civil Security Officers in Ampara today.
Director-General of the Department of Civil Security, Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris and other officers attended the meeting.
"There are several conditions India should fulfil according to the accord. One is to disarm the LTTE. Two is to ensure that another war will not take place in the country and three is to resettle those who lived in the north. India failed to fulfil all 3 conditions," the minister said.
He added that the Indo Lanka accord is not valid anymore and if it is not in effect, it will not apply to provincial councils as well.
The minister assured that the country will not be handed over to anyone via the provincial council system or the constitution.
