MAHARA PRISON RIOT: VERDICT ON BURIAL OF 04 VICTIMS TO BE DELIVERED

COLOMBO (News 1st): The verdict on granting permission to bury four prisoners who were killed in the Mahara Prison Riot will be delivered today (Dec. 16) by the Wattala Magistrate's Court. Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Department has informed the Wattala Magistrate's Court that according to the autopsy report, the four prisoners killed in the Mahara Prison Riot, died of gunshot injuries In total 11 inmates died in the Mahara Prison Riot that broke out on 29th November. "The autopsies of four bodies have concluded as of now, and the post-mortem reports will be submitted to the court by the panel that conducted the post mortems. The panel consists of five members: four Consultant Judicial Medical Officers and a Ballistic Expert from the Government Analyst's Department," Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said on Wednesday morning (Dec. 16). Further investigations are continued by the Criminal Investigations Department, the Deputy Police Chief noted.
