Colombo (News 1st); Cyclone Burevi is expected to bring heavy rainfall and gale winds for the eastern coast of Sri Lanka, said the Department of Meteorology on Wednesday (02).

The cyclonic storm ‘ BUREVI’ over the south-west Bay of Bengal, lay centered near latitude 8.4°N and longitude 83.4°E, about 240 km east-southeast of Trincomalee at 0230 hrs today (02nd December).
The system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross the eastern coast of Sri Lanka between Batticaloa and Point-Pedro, close to Trincomalee around today evening/night.
This Cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 75-85 kmph gusting up to 95 kmph and it is very likely to move nearly westwards thereafter, emerge into Gulf of Mannar
