COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 21,280 families in 11 Divisions of the Trincomalee district have been identified as those at risk with Cyclonic storm Burevi set to make landfall on Wednesday night (Dec. 02).
"Thereby, measures are underway to facilitate the safe evacuation of more than 75,000 people to 237 relief centres prepared for this purpose. They will be provided with food and other facilities at the relief centres," Saman Paadikorala, the District Secretary of Trincomalee said.
According to the District Secretary, Trincomalee town, Mutur, Kadawathsathara, Kuchchaveli, Verugal, and Kinniya are the identified high-risk areas in the Trincomalee district.
District Secretary of Trincomalee urged the people in the area to assist the government's efforts and evacuate to safer locations as instructed.
