Final rites of Most Ven. Napane Pemasiri Thero today

COLOMBO (News 1st): The final rites of the Late Most Venerable Napane Pemasiri Thero, the Former Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Sect will be carried out on Sunday (Nov. 22), at the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike School Grounds in Kundasale, under state patronage. The Most Venerable Napane Pemasiri Thero passed away at the age of 98, on Tuesday (Nov. 17), while receiving treatment at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital. The late Most Venerable Napane Pemasiri Thero was born on the 2nd of January 1923 in Napana, Patha-Dumbara, and was ordained on the 08th of July 1933 at the Udumbararamaya in Hurikaduwa. Earlier on Sunday (Nov. 22), the Most Venerable Makulewe Vimalabhidana Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the Minioluwa Vidyawasa Maha Priven was appointed as the new Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Sect.
