COVID-19 cases from Sri Lankan prisons surge past 400

Colombo (News 1st); COVID-19 cases reported from Sri Lankan prisons has risen to 437 on Sunday (15), said the Department of Prisons.

Commissioner (Administration) of the Department of Prisons Chandana Ekanayake speaking to News 1st said on Sunday (15) morning 05 Prison Officers and 147 inmates tested positive for COVID-19.

A majority of the COVID-19 infected prisoners were detected from the Colombo Remand Prison, Welikada Prison Women's Ward, Boossa Maximum Security Prison and the Old Bogambara Prison.
