Cabinet decides to provide relief for inter-city passenger transport buses

Colombo (News 1st); The Cabinet of Ministers has taken a decision to provide relief for the bus owners for continuous maintenance of intercity passenger transport bus service amidst the COVID-19 pandemic conditions.

Accordingly, it was decided to waive and release passenger transport bus owners from,

-  Permit updating charges

-  Delay charges (penalty charges)

-  Tender charges

-  Logbook charges

-  Access permit charges

-  Temporary permit charges for the expressways with effect from March 2020.

However, it has been identified the passenger bus owners need to be provided with relief to cater to their commuters with much quality and efficient service since they have confronted with numerous constraints due to rise of this pandemic as a second wave.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers rendered their consent to the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport for further providing the said relief until the end of this year to the bus owners; considering the prevailing conditions.
