Zaharan's wife testifies for the first time after 17 months in detention

Colombo (News 1st); Zaharan Hashim's wife Abdul Cader Fathima Hadiya provided evidence to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the 2019 April 21st Attacks for the first time on Friday (23).

She is currently in remand custody and was escorted to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry by personnel from the Department of Prisons.

Zaharan Hashim's wife Abdul Cader Fathima Hadiya was escorted to the Presidential Commission on Thursday (22) however, evidence was not recorded from her.

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry decided to postpone the recording of evidence considering the fact presented by the Attorney General's Department.

The Attorney General's Department on Thursday (22) claimed Abdul Cader Fathima Hadiya providing evidence to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry would hamper the process on the legal action filed with the court on the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

On Thursday (22) Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage ordered for the 06 people including Abdul Cader Fathima Hadiya to be remanded until the 04th of November.

Zaharan Hashim's wife Abdul Cader Fathima Hadiya was produced to court on Thursday (22) for the very first time by the Criminal Investigations Department after holding her in detention for 17 months as per the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
