Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lankan drug trafficker Sunil Gemini Fonseka alias ‘Katta’ Kamini was arrested from his hideout in Bengaluru by the ‘Q’ branch of the Tamil Nadu police.
Sunil Gemini Fonseka alias ‘Katta’ Kamini, who is a proclaimed offender in Sri Lankan, was remanded in custody at Puzhal prison on Wednesday (14), reported the Times of India.
Fonseka was involved in murders besides drug trafficking in several countries including Sri Lanka.
He reportedly has close contacts with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and other international drug traffickers, said the TOI.
Fonseka, who is involved in murder conspiracies, was awarded the death penalty in a drug trafficking case in the island nation.
However, he escaped from Lanka and was reportedly staying at a house in Pudupakkam near Kancheepuram for the past six months.
Inquiries revealed that he had rented a house at Pudupakkam posing as an entrepreneur.
When officials began tracking his movements, he fled to Bengaluru.
Following a tip-off, a ‘Q’ branch team followed him to Bengaluru.
