COLOMBO (News1st): The transmission of COVID-19 has not reached the community stage although its virulence is high, health spokesman Dr Jayaruwan Bandara has said.
"...the virulence of the virus in the new wave of COVID-19 is higher than what it was during the previous wave," the spokesman of the health ministry told media on Thursday.
He pointed out that 14 hospitals have been allocated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
"There are vacant beds at these hospitals. Therefore, there is no need to have fear about the facilities at hospitals," Dr Bandara assured.
He said that the health ministry has made arrangements to allocate the required amount of beds for COVID-19 patients based on the capacity in the country.
