Gnanasara Thero appointed to Parliament through National List

COLOMBO(News 1st): The Central Working Committee of the Ape Janabala Party has unanimously decided to nominate Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero to the National List seat allocated to them in Parliament. " Since our former Secretary Ven. Vedenigama Wimalathissa Thero failed to convene a meeting to discuss the matter of nominating a representative to the National List seat, we appointed the former Secretary Nishantha Rathnayake as the Secretary of the party once again", Saman Perera the Chairman of the Ape Janabala Party said while speaking at a media briefing held today. " When a national list seat is secured by a party, there is a law that states that a person nominated for this seat should have either contested the election and lost or should have his name included in the initial National List. Thereby, there was an issue with how Gnanasara Thero can be nominated for this position. But I assure the public that we have sought legal advice on the matter", Saman Perera added.
