PCR test reports of all T&R personnel received

All PCR test reports of Kandakadu T&R staff and inmates received : Army Commander

Colombo (News 1st); 09 COVID-19 cases were reported in Sri Lanka on Wednesday the 15th of July.

04 of those cases were Sri Lankan returnees from Qatar and 04 other cases were Sri Lankan returnees from the United Arab Emirates.

The other person who tested positive for COVID-19 is a person who had contact with the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, placed at the Kundasale Quarantine Facility.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva speaking to News 1st said a total of 533 people attached to the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center tested positive for COVID-19.

444 of those cases are inmates who were undergoing rehabilitation at the T&R Center and 64 others are staff members including counsellors attached to the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center.

The remaining cases are family members and other contacts of those at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center.

Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva said the situation at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center is completely under control.

In addition, the PCR Test reports of all staff members and inmates at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center were received by authorities.

Families and visitors to the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center have been placed under quarantine, said the Army Commander.

He stressed there is NO community transmission of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
