UPDATED : Foreign national arrested on suspicion for peddling narcotics

Colombo (News 1st); A Foreign National was arrested on Saturday on suspicion for peddling narcotics in the Palangathurai area in Kochchikade, said the Police Special Task Force adding the suspect was a UAE National.

Upon inspecting the suspect's mobile phone, information, images, and videos of illegal narcotics and a SIM card that is not registered under his name were discovered in his possession, the Police Special Task Force said.

The police discovered an unidentifiable air rifle without a valid receipt concealed at the rest house he was staying in.

UPDATE: The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Colombo on Monday (29th June) said the arrested person was not a UAE National but a Yemeni National.
