Colombo (News 1st); The Welisara Navy camp was re-opened on Tuesday (23) after a two-month lockdown, due to the spread of the coronavirus.
Navy Spokesman Lt. Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara speaking to News 1st said operations would re-commence in several stages under the healthcare guidelines.

He said the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy decided to activate the Welisara Naval Complex adding the necessary permission was obtained from the health officials.
Accordingly, essential services and related duties re-commenced operation at the Welisara Navy Camp today, said Lt. Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara.
He said a total of 898 Sri Lanka Navy sailors tested positive for COVID-19 and 786 of them recovered completely.
