3 dead and 9 injured in a stampede in Maligawatte; 6 arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Three people have died and nine others have been hospitalized as a result of  a stampede in Maligawatte on Thursday (May 21), officials said. "Six people have been arrested from Maligawatte," Police Spokesperson SP Jaliya Senaratne said. Head Nurse of the National Hospital Pushpa Soysa told News 1st that of the nine, four people are in the Emergency Treatment Unit" Police said the incident has taken place when private donations were being distributed in the Maligawatte area.
