Former MP Ramanayake granted bail

COLOMBO (News1st): Former lawmaker Ranjan Ramanayake remanded on charges of obstructing the duties of police officers was granted bail by the Nugegoda magistrate's court on Monday. Ramanayake was arrested last week with his physiotherapist whom police officers had prevented from entering the former parliamentarian's housing complex, following which an argument had ensued. The physiotherapist, an official at the sports ministry, was released on bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court last Tuesday. Ramanayake, who claimed that his physiotherapist had brought vegetables and rice in his car, denied any wrongdoing at the time of his arrest.
