Govt. grants grace period to settle electricity bills

The government has declared a grace period until the March 31 for the public to settle their unpaid electricity bills. "We have instructed the CEB to avoid disconnecting power supply during that period," Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera said. He explained that this decision had been made to prevent the public from visiting crowded places to settle bills. The minister stated that consumers, however, do have the option of settling their bills online.
