Deputy Principal, four teachers suspended over drowning of four students

The Deputy Principal and four teachers of the Hali-Ela Science College have been suspended in connection to an incident where four students died after drowning at the Gomarankadawala Medawachchiya wewa. Four students drowned and lost their lives during an educational tour on the 19th of February. "The suspension was imposed following preliminary investigations into the incident", Sandhya Abanwela, Secretary to the Southern Provincial Education Ministry told reporters. The principal of the school has also been transferred.
