Forest fire destroys 25 acres of land in Hatton

Colombo (News 1st) - A fire reported on a reserve along the upcountry railway line has destroyed nearly 25 acres of land according to our correspondent in the area. The area in question is located between the Hatton and Rosella train stations. The fire which began in an Eucalyptus reserve at around noon today (Feb 7) reached the outskirts of the Ruwanpura village. It was controlled through the efforts of the estate workers. Residents of Ruwanpura state that fire could have been set off by hunters attempting to exploit the dry conditions experienced in the area.
