Colombo (News 1st): Sri Lanka Navy has apprehended 08 Indian fishermen along with a fishing dhow for illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
Constant Naval patrols are conducted to prevent the trespassing of Indian poachers into the Sri Lankan territorial waters and this apprehension was made during a patrol carried out by Northern Naval Command in the seas 8 nautical miles East of Mullaitivu. Subsequently, the seized dhow along with the fishers was escorted to the Trincomalee harbor.
The group of 08 fishermen with their dhow were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Trincomalee, after a medical examination, for onward action.
