Colombo (News 1st) - A raid conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police STF on Wednesday (Jan 29) in the Puthukudiyiruppu area led to the discovery of 18 live hand grenades.
The hand grenades had been buried on the side of the road at the time of discovery. According to the Navy media unit the discovery included 16 SFG87 hand grenades and 2 M75 grenades. The Navy suspects that the grenades had been buried by the LTTE during the war.
The grenades have been handed over to the Kilinochchi Police STF camp for further investigations.
