Colombo (News 1st) - A clash broke out in Maha Oya last evening between two factions of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
The Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, a constituent of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, convened a meeting under the auspices of its leader Dinesh Gunawardena in Maha Oya yesterday. The meeting was organized by Rushan Milinda, the Chief Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna for the Ampara district. The situation turned tense with the arrival of State Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake and a few others at the scene.
Rushan Malinda accused State minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake and former Provincial Councillor W.D. Weerasinghe of leading a mob that pelted stones at him. He also alleged that the State Minister and his supporters proceeded to attack the home of another party supporter.
While News 1st reached out to State Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake was a comment, he rejected the opportunity to respond to these charges.
