COLOMBO (News1st):- A fire has erupted once again in the Madampitiya garbage dump at Grandpass.
The Colombo Fire Brigade states that four service engines have been deployed as of now to douse the fire. The fire was initially reported last night (January 17).
The fire brigade states that the prevailing dry weather has been identified as the cause of the fire.
Due to the ongoing water shortage in Colombo, the fire brigade is also finding it difficult to supply water to douse the flames. An officer of the brigade further said that they hope to get the assistance of the Army and the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) to douse the fire.
