COLOMBO (News 1st) - Athula Karunaratne, Director General of the Meteorology Department noted that the North-East Monsoon that has an impact on the island has been active, therefore there is a possibility of showers or thundershowers to be experienced in North, North Central, Eastern, North Western, Uva and especially in the Central and Southern Provinces.
He added that the sky in these areas can be brown in colour and there is a possibility that the skies can be cloudy and dark. He shared that in addition to that, the rest of the areas of the country can experience showers or thundershowers in the afternoon or the evening.
Director-General further added that with the constant rainy condition, the country will expect heavy rainfall and a possibility of showers exceeding 100mm in the North, North Central, Eastern, Uva, and Southern Provinces.
