Colombo (News 1st): Keheliya Rambukwella assumed duties today as the new State Minister of Investment Promotion. Speaking to reporters after assuming duties the new state minister stressed that two main factors are required to bring in direct investments into the country and that they are National Security and Political Stability.
Rambukwella believes that the country cannot progress by obtaining more loans and stated that investments are a good substitute for loans. The state minister went onto state that there is a lack of investments coming into the country at present adding that it is their goal to lay the foundation to fix this issue as soon as possible.
Addressing the topic of importing garbage to Sri Lanka the state minister noted that garbage has now become a commercial product and what is important is knowing how to use it properly. He added that garbage is a good way of investing, but should be handled well without making the country a dump yard.
