Election violence in Anamaduwa hospitalizes one

Colombo (News 1st): A tense situation arose near the Pallama Police in Anamaduwa yesterday (November 18). A protest was carried out at the location, citing that a group who had carried out an assault had not been arrested. Around 6:00 pm yesterday, an argument had taken place between a group of SLPP supporters who had been celebrating their victory and another group of people from the opposing camp. The group of people from the SLPP supporters had lodged a complaint with the Pallama police regarding the incident. The police had taken steps to bring in both parties to carry out the investigation. A tense situation had erupted there. The riot squad and the Police STF was called to the locations as a tense situation arose near the Pallama police station between the two groups. The person who was allegedly assaulted is currently receiving treatment at the Anamaduwa hospital. News 1st inquired of the matter from Parliamentarian Range Bandara, against whom allegations are raised regarding this incident. He said that the incident was a result of firecrackers being thrown at the houses of his supporters, inconveniencing them. He added that the SLPP supporters carried swords and poles at that location.
