Colombo (News 1st): The National Elections Commission instructed the removal of stickers promoting presidential candidates or political parties, from private or public vehicles, as it is in violation of the law.
Issuing a statement, the NEC said pasting stickers, flags depicting slogans, signs, or photographs relating to a candidate or a party is an offense under the Presidential Elections Act. NEC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said Sri Lanka police have been instructed to conduct random search operations across the country to remove such stickers pasted on vehicles.
