Colombo (News 1st): The Railway Trade Unions say that the strike will not be called off until the Government resolves their salary anomalies. Chairman of the Locomotive Engine Operators' Union Indika Dodangoda said this decision was taken at a meeting of railway trade union representatives held yesterday (October 5).
Commuters continue to be severely inconvenienced due to the strike.
The Department of Railways says all Railway Employees must report to work since all leave has been canceled.
This is in light of an Extraordinary Gazette Notification issued 2 days ago, making Railway Services an Essential Service.
