Railway and University Non-Academic staff strike continues

Colombo (News 1st): The Strike action by engine drivers, station masters, and monitoring officials continues today (October 3) for the 8th consecutive day. Trade unions state that they will continue the strikes until a satisfactory response is given with regard to their needs. The strike action by university non-academic staff citing salary anomalies continues for the 24th consecutive day today. While a request has been made following a discussion with the subject minister that all pledges be conveyed in writing, Saman Kariyawasam, Secretary to the Association of University Trade Unions said that the strikes will continue up until written confirmation is given.
