Speaking at the summit SLPP Presidential Candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa questioned as to how people could speak about a future when only 35,000 students are enrolled in universities each year. He believes that this should be resolved first, a quality education should be provided to every single youth in the country to get a good employment opportunity. He noted that it is their responsibility as a government. Rajapaksa went onto note that they will have to allocate a large sum of money to find short and long term solutions to the issues in the education sector. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the summit noted that a large number of Sri Lankan engineers work at expressways, Port City, Moragakanda project, Beliatta Railway line, Hambantota Port, Lotus tower and several other key places.
