Ranil - Sajith crucial meeting ends; No decisions announced

Colombo (News 1st) - The meeting between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Deputy Leader of the UNP, Minister Sajith Premadasa ended a short while ago. The meeting at Temple Trees began at around 9.30pm today (Sept 10). Speaking to the media following the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Sajith Premadasa revealed that senior UNP members Kabir Hashim, Ranjith Maddumabandara and Malik Samarawickrama were also present during the discussion. Minister Premadasa answered a number of questions posed by media personnel that had gathered opposite Temple Trees but did not provide any concrete information on the discussions which took place or what decision was reached regarding the UNP or UNF presidential candidate. While stating that he was positive about the discussions which took place today (Sept 10), Sajith Premadasa noted that the fruits of the discussions could be seen in a few days. When pressed by journalists as to when the country would be able to see the fruits of the discussion, the Minister played coy and stated that he could not give an exact time frame. The Minister also noted that he hopes to continue discussions with the PM and seniors within the party.
