COLOMBO (News 1st); The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has filed lawsuits against 345 shops for selling rice at inflated prices. The CAA reported that, so far this year, they have inspected 2,725 shops.
Additionally, 623 shops have been prosecuted for failing to display rice prices, and 39 shop owners have been charged with hoarding rice stocks.
The CAA has collected fines amounting to 46 million rupees from these cases.
