UNP membership demands Sajith Premadasa as presidential candidate

COLOMBO (News 1st)  The UNP party supporters continued to force the UNP leadership to field Sajith Premadasa as the Presidential Candidate.  Thaminda Dias Abeygunawardena, Member of Uhana PS of UNP noted that Sajith Premadasa is the only party member with a clean slate and they demand him to be the presidential candidate of the party. D.D. Meththananda, former member of Eastern Provincial Council of the UNP noted that a number of key figures of the UNP such as Malik Samarawickrama, Kabir Hashim, Minister Harin Fernando vehemently demand Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa to be UNP's presidential candidate for 2020. He finally warned that if it does not come to that, the UNP would end up just like SLFP, in shambles. Meanwhile, another phase of the program conducted by the Gajasaviya Samavadi Peramuna to gather 2mn signatures demanding for Sajith Premadasa to be nominated as the presidential candidate was conducted in Wattala today (August 11). A number of participants enthusiastically shared that entire country demands Sajith Premadasa. At the same time, the residents of Baduraliya organized a march in Baduraliya demanding for Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa to be named as the presidential candidate.
