People affected by dry weather tops 550,000

Colombo (News 1st): The number of people affected by the dry weather has topped 550,000 with the official figure standing at 565,173. The Disaster Management Center said people across 17 Districts have been badly affected with the worst reports coming from the North of the country. The DMC said that figure is at 193,000 in the north while in the east of the country more than 156,000 people have been affected. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippilli said special programs are in place to provide clean drinking water to those affected.
