Colombo (News 1st): The Government Medical Officers Association made a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department requesting for an investigation over an alleged incident of public funds being used for the maintenance of the Dr Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital.
On April 30th at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, it came to light that though the Dr Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital is privately established, the government had borne all its expenses.
The GMOA claims that the Ministry of Health had allocated millions on a monthly basis for the benefit of a private establishment.
However, in a statement yesterday the Ministry of Health said the Dr Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital is not a private entity and it is a government maintained hospital.
