Colombo (News 1st): A group of Buddhist monks from several organizations arrived at the Police Headquarters today. Speaking to the police Venerable Ittakande Saddhatissa Thero noted that a group of Sinhalese youth were arrested and the Police Media Spokesperson said that they could be sent to jail for 10 years and that bail won't be granted, however, he noted that bail was granted to the 9 employees of the Copper factory that was linked to the 21st April terror attacks. Venerable Magalkande Sudaththa Thero claimed that those arrested with swords in their custody were not charged under the ICCPR Act. He added that three young men were arrested in a haste, but Abdul Razak, who presented evidence was not arrested. Venerable Ittakande Saddhatissa Thero who was also present at the location added that this a conspiracy. He claimed that just as former President J.R.Jayawardene got involved in the 1983 riots his nephew is embroiled in the latest incidents. The theros urged the Sinhalese youth to stop this immediately as they do not have to recreate wars in the country. They noted that all this is being orchestrated by politicians. Venerable Ittakande Saddhatissa Thero speaking at the occasion reiterated that such actions are being orchestrated by politicians because it becomes easier for them to rule a country under emergency regulations.
