COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Foreign Employment Bureau has raided a company that defrauded money from several people on the pretense of providing employment in Japan. Two people were arrested during the raid conducted on the company that is located in Battaramulla. The suspects have been identified as residents of Polonnaruwa and Thalangama.
The bureau was also able to discover 13 passports, applications for employment, copies of passports, coloured photographs, cash receipts, notices of job vacancies and various other documents during the raid.
The fraudulent company carried out a business for issuing air tickets. Several people who had to pay a sum of Rs. 1.2 million in order to gain employment in Japan had also appeared before the officers of the investigation unit of the Foreign Bureau.
The two arrested suspects are due to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrates Court today (March 15).
