Farmers demand a better price for paddy

Colombo (News 1st): Farmers across the country are protesting today (March 6) citing a number of reasons including a demand to purchase paddy at a fixed price. According to the Chairman of the National Joint Farmers Association, the protests commenced at 09 am at 54 separate irrigation projects. The farmers are demanding that the price of paddy purchased from them should be increased by at least Rs. 50.
