Mahindananda Aluthgamage misappropriation case: Court orders CIABOC to update progress

COLOMBO (News 1st) -The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court, that they were compiling facts to file charges against former Sports Minister and present MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage at the Permanent High Court Trial at Bar. He is suspected to have misappropriated Rs. 53 million in public funds to buy 14,000 carrom boards and 11,000 checkerboards when was Sports Minister. The Commission informed court, that it would seek the opinion of the Chief Justice on taking up the matter before the Permanent High Court Trial at Bar. Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the prosecution to report the progress on the matter to court on April 30th. Earlier, the former Chairman of Sathosa Nalin Fernando was listed as the second suspect in the case.
