Assets of drug traffickers to be confiscated

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Police has uncovered details regarding 24 infamous drug peddlers who had fled the country. Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Ruwan Gunasekera at a press briefing said that the police have commenced investigations in order to confiscate the property of these drug peddlers in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act of 2006. He also said that some of the assets of the of the identified drug traffickers have already been frozen in accordance with court orders. He stressed, during this month (January 2019), authorities had arrested 2895 suspects connected to drug trafficking and seized a total of 107 Kilograms and 351 grams of Heroin
