Ministry to inspect firearm licenses today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Inspection of the licenses issued for pistols and revolvers will be conducted today (January 23) and tomorrow (January 24) at the Ministry of Defence. This will take place following the decision made by the Ministry to revoke all licenses. Army spokesperson Brigadier Sumith Athapaththu said that once a license is verified the validity of the license will be extended for a period of one year. Brigadier Athapaththu further said that firearms without a license can be handed over to the nearest police station.
