CDS Ravindra Wijegunarathne to be investigated by CID

The CID has informed courts that a lengthy investigation will be launched, by obtaining a report on phone recordings, against the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathne. The CID informed this when the case was taken up before the Fort Acting Magistrate, Priyantha Liyanage. An Assistant Superintendent of Police presented facts before the court on behalf of the CID. The CID informed court that investigations revealed that even after CDS Ravindra Wijegunarathne resigned from the post of Navy Commander he still utilizes room 709 of the Officer Quarters at the Navy Base. Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathne has been charged with protecting a Navy official who is behind the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth and intimidating a witness.
