Festive season accidents increased by 13%

Colombo (News1st): Deputy Director of the Accident Ward of the National Hospital in Colombo Dr. Samithi Samarakoon said 548 accidents were reported on the 24th and 25th of December alone, which is an increase of 13% compared to 2017. Dr. Samarakoon said 179 people who were injured during those two days continue to receive in-house treatment at the National Hospital. Notably, for the first time in history, no fireworks-related accidents were reported on Christmas Day.
